UPDATE: SEPTEMBER 2011 – A Word from MeccaGodZilla

“Peace and love to all those in Japan. Years ago, the NYC fam.. made a donation on behalf of NY to Japan.. by way of Domo Arigato: Japan Appreciation Festival 2011..a name that Raye 6 came up with and the team from the BX, Brooklyn and Long Island put work in to make this a reality. I’m grateful for TastyKeish, MIO SOUL, Conscious, all the BX, Brooklyn fam and more for just sticking together to send what we could to Japan. Thank you to Chevon of Chevon McIntyre Photography for volunteering her time to take photos for us.

we sold food, snacks, put on a concert in the community garden up in the BX..thank you Swan…thank you Thinker, Chica, John Smalls, Evita, Francy, Cavalier, Rie, Rei, all the dancers.. Emjae, all the performers, Green Street, TreZure, Raye 6, Eye 2025 and so many countless others. Sorry if I am not mentioning.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: AUGUST 5, 2011

DOMO ARIGATO: JAPAN APPRECIATION FESTIVAL 2011

Me and 10 other artists toured Japan together this past November 2010. We felt it is time to do our part collectively, to give back to the country that showed us a lot of love while on tour. Join me and my wonderful friends tomorrow and make a donation that will help save lives. College Park Community Garden presents, “Domo Arigato: Japan Appreciation Festival 2011”.

This family friendly day will feature live performances, independent vendors, food and drink with all donations going to the Japan Society.

I personally contacted The Japan Society and we got their support. All of our proceeds will be donated to them.

“Domo Arigato” will be hosted by TastyKeish of Rise up Radio on WBAI 99.5 FM. American and Japanese performers — Green Street, MeccaGodZilla, Cavalier Mio Soul, & Raye6 to name a few — headline the afternoon’s event, accompanied by live art from Ignite Designs & John Smalls.

The festival takes off at 2 p.m.with live performances beginning at 4 p.m. (Rain date Aug. 7.)

Admission is a $5 donation. Tickets can be ordered online prior to the day of the event. Ten dollar silver donation and $20 gold donation tickets can also be purchased.
